In the museum's cabinet, from May 9th to August 2nd 2009, we will be showing selected works by the Berne photographer Leonardo Bezzola (born 1929) whose wide photographic oeuvre dates from the 1940s to today. After an apprenticeship as retoucher and graphic artist and the attendance of the Kunstgewerbeschule Zurich, he became a self-made photographer and was known as self-employed graphic designer and film maker. He is especially famous for his numerous artist portraits, for example of Jean Tinguely, Niki de Saint Phalle and Bernhard Luginbühl. Today he lives in Batterkinden near Berne.
At the Museum Franz Gertsch, we present photographs by Leonardo Bezzola which allow a glance behind the curtains of the young Berne art scene at a certain time. The pictures show well-known artists such as Franz Gertsch, Meret Oppenheim, Dieter Roth, Bernhard Luginbühl, Franz Eggenschwiler and the legendary curator Harald Szeemann among others.
